watsonx Orchestrate for Healthcare.

HIPAA-aligned, EMR-integrated agents for health plans, providers, therapy, and community healthcare services. Healthcare organizations are under pressure to improve clinical efficiency, reduce administrative burden, accelerate authorizations, and improve patient outcomes without adding staff. We help healthcare teams deploy Agentic AI workflows that streamline clinical review, documentation, care coordination, and operational processes while maintaining human oversight and regulatory compliance.

The problem

Healthcare's Agentic AI workflow problem is rarely about the model.

It's about everything around the model — PHI handling, EMR write-back, payer-provider data exchange, the audit trail your compliance officer needs at 4pm on a Friday. The wins in healthcare Agentic AI don't come from a smarter LLM; they come from agents that respect the constraint of the environment.

Most pilots stall at the first PHI conversation. Many of the rest stall when the EHR's interoperability team asks for a signed BAA and a data-flow diagram. We bring that diagram on day 1.

The result: customers move from "interesting demo" to a production agent that touches PHI, lives behind their IdP, writes back to the EHR, and produces evidence packets their auditors recognize.

Compliance & regulatory

The frameworks we map every deployment against.

HIPAA

BAA-backed. Architectures can be designed so PHI remains within the customer-controlled environment. Access logged at the encounter level; redaction and fallback controls scoped during discovery.

HITRUST

Reference architecture maps to HITRUST CSF v11 control families.

SOC 2-ready

SOC 2-ready delivery controls; evidence collection supported in every engagement.

21st Century Cures / FHIR

Native FHIR interoperability. We help close ONC interoperability gaps as part of the build.

Healthcare FAQ.

Do you sign a BAA?

Yes. We typically sign within 5 business days; pre-baked template available on request.

Does PHI ever leave our VPC?

Architectures can be designed so PHI remains within your watsonx tenant and customer-controlled environment. Redacted inputs are used for fallback model calls where applicable, and full lineage is retained at every step. Specific controls are scoped during discovery.

Does Orchestrate integrate with EHR systems?

Yes — natively via FHIR plus each EHR's interconnect APIs (Epic, Cerner, Meditech and others). We bring proven integration patterns on day 1.

Can the platform run on-prem?

Yes — watsonx supports on-prem and sovereign-cloud deployment, including OpenShift.
